Australia A cruise to Twenty20 win
Australia A has finished the series against Pakistan A on a winning note, cruising to a seven wicket win in the final Twenty20 encounter at Allan Border Field in Brisbane today.
An unbeaten 120-run partnership between skipper Cameron White (73) and vice-captain Adam Voges (47) steered the hosts home after Pakistan had won the toss and set a target of 170.
White said it was great to finish the series with a strong win after playing some great cricket right throughout the series.
"We've consistently played well across all formats and it's nice to come away with the Twenty20 after winning the four-day and one-day series as well," the Victorian said.
"Our bowlers were excellent today in restricting Pakistan to 170 on what was a good batting wicket and very fast outfield."
White's Victorian team mate Clint McKay finished as the pick of the bowlers snaring 3-32, with Brett Geeves (2-32) and Shaun Tait (2-34) also impressive in grabbing two wickets each.
"Our bowlers really set it up for us today and it was a nice luxury for the batsman to be able to go out there and pretty much play ourselves in without needing to take too many risks," the 25-year-old said.
White's 73 came from just 43 deliveries and included four fours and five sixes, while Voges' 47 came from only 34 balls with the West Australian crushing three sixes.
"It's always nice to be there at the end, and batting with V (Adam Voges) is always enjoyable; it was a good way to finish the series.
"Pakistan have provided us with challenge right throughout this series, we've had to work hard every game."
Australia took a clean sweep of the series winning the four-dayers 1-0, the one-dayers 2-1 and also winning the one and only Twenty20 match.
